When we think of literacy, we think of reading, writing, spelling, grammar, or math. Literacy includes these things, but it is also a widespread concept that covers a lot of things. The situation we face has the potential to use a consistent set of tools. Literacy gives us access to opportunities, challenges and fun in our society.
James Paul Gee. is a linguist who has changed the way discursive communities see. James Paul Gee.’s “Literacy, Discourse, and Linguistics: Introduction” states that discourse and discourse are two different things. The term “speech” refers only to the language that people use. Meanwhile, the big D, “discourse,” refers to language combined with its four statements: say, do, believe, and values. He proposes that everyone should have at least one speech.
Everyone was born and raised according to primary socialization, which gives discourse to all. Secondary discourse is not easily reached in later life. James Paul Gee described his discourses in his journal Literacy, Discourse and Linguistics: Introduction – JOURNAL OF EDUCTION, volume 171 Number 1, 1989. It is impossible to engage in secondary discourse. It is not easy to know and automatically think of parts of a particular discourse: “I am part of it.” Gee is an expert at discourses and knows that you are not really there even though you think they are in you.
According to James Paul Gee, the term discursive community is more than a group of communicating people. In his essay, Literacy, Speech, and Linguistics: An Introduction, Gee claims that the term speech community is a combination of five factors. Say, do, exist, evaluate and believe. Explain that discourse is a way of existence in the world and a way of life that someone has chosen to have. This includes sharing the same words, actions, values, beliefs, attitudes, and social identities with the community.
The high school social “group” is an excellent example of what James Gee calls “speech”. In the modern language, the word “speech” simply means written or oral communication. However, literary and linguistic author James Paul Gee has a different idea of the term. He describes in his writing that the speech (with the capital letter “D”) belongs to a person; Who they are.
Another Person, Edward M. White – one of the participants in the cycle, who decided to fight back. It was in the summer of 2007, and he was on a way home after a difficult test, which could crush a person with a weaker physique. As an English teacher, he evaluated hundreds of essays from five paragraphs, consisting of 280,000, which were submitted in June as part of the Advanced Placement Test in English and in composition. To take revenge, he wrote his five paragraph essay on a five paragraph essay, the fourth paragraph of which reads as follows:
“Since the beginning of time, some college teachers have mocked the five-paragraph theme. But I intend to show that they have been mistaken. There are three reasons why I always write five-paragraph themes. First, it gives me an organisational scheme: an introduction (like this one) setting out three subtopics, three paragraphs for my three subtopics, and a concluding paragraph reminding you what I have said, in case you weren’t paying attention. Second, it focuses on my topic, so I don’t just go on and on when I don’t have anything much to say. Three and only three subtopics force me to think in a limited way.”
Many writers were taught in high school that there was a very simple idea formula. The most common configuration is a five-paragraph theme or its variations. The five-paragraph theme starts with a general introduction. The dissertation in the first paragraph is always the last sentence. Following three supplementary paragraphs, each question sentence begins with three to five evolving sentences. Finally comes the conclusion. This basically reconfigures the deployment. Of course, there are more than five paragraphs. In fact, some authors have written very long essays following this basic structure.
In conclusion, literature can be many things. There may be chances of all things happening in it. When looking for ideas about what literature is, it is possible to consider some of the things that literature serves. Literature can be something that reflects society, allows people to enjoy language and beauty, can be didactic and reflects on the “human condition”. And those are why we should improve on it every way we can.
